Installing UNE on the N150 took about 30 minutes, from start to finish, including downloading the ISO image, converting it to a bootable USB drive, and installing it into a dual-boot configuration with the existing Win7. Everything went very smoothly, there were absolutely no surprises or problems, and it runs extremely well. The first indication of the difference in performance comes when you reboot after installation. UNE boots in less than 30 seconds, from power-on to a ready-to-use desktop. Windows 7 takes over 90 seconds. This kind of differential is evident everywhere you look, as well. Programs start faster and run faster. Shutdown is faster. Suspend/Resume is faster. All of the N150 Plus hardware works just fine - graphics, wired and wireless netwrking, Bluetooth, USB ports, and so on. The driver for the WiFi adapter has to be installed separately, the procedure for that is given below. Battery life seems amazingly good to me - I can't say exactly what it is yet, because I haven't yet run the battery all the way down and had to recharge! It looks like it is going to be somewhere in the range of 4-5 hours. It is very quickly becomes clear that Ubuntu Netbook Edition is an operating system that is well-suited to this netbook, while Windows 7 is an overbearing, resource-eating pig that has been shoehorned onto it.
Because the N150 Plus has a Broadcom bcm4727 WiFi adapter, which uses a proprietary driver under Linux, the driver is not installed by default with UNE. To get it installed, simply connect a wired network cable, and then go to System / Hardware Drivers. After searching for a short time, UNE will tell you that a driver is available, and you simply select "Activate". it takes less than 5 minutes to download and install the driver, and your wireless networking will then be working.

I'm having an issue with my Samsung N210 laptop that has the GMA3150 graphics controller (Atom N450 CPU). The problem is that after downloading recent Intel graphics drivers I can no longer change my screen brightness. This problem has been reported long ago elsewhere, at least in the sammynetbook.com forums. Following their advice, I uninstalled the driver and went back as far as version 8.14.10.1972 (the 64-bit version of the driver). The next driver available from Intel's site no longer allows me to change screen brightness, nor does anything newer.
Because I have read that sometimes the FFFF value might prevent the screen from even turning on after recovering from Standby ( -8/samsung-n150-plus-i-cant-control-bright/701.html Samsung n150 Plus, I can't control bright), I have changed the values to FFFE and I still have brightness control. I tested my Sleep mode just now and with the FFFE value in all positions, it does in fact come up properly after Sleep. I have Hibernate mode disabled for personal reasons. I don't much care for hibernate. Windows 10 boots up fast enough on its own for me to not care. I am running a Crucial MX100 250 GB SSD drive, after all.
It turns out that this laptop requires the 'samsung-laptop' platformdriver in order for backlight control to work. The driver contains awhitelist of the DMI strings of models known to require this driver. This laptop identifies itself thusly:
Hi i registered just to reply to this topic. I had the same problem on my N210 plus. But it worked when i got it (few weeks ago). It stopped working right after I did the Intel Graphicscard update through samsung updater. So it was easy to find the culprit for me, I did a google to make sure and this topic just confirmed it. I reinstalled and BOOM instantly went back to low brightness. So just have to wait on the next driver that hopefully fixes the issue the new driver has, until then this driver will do ?
Hi when I sent it went back to low brightness that was as soon as I installed the older samsung drivers. The problem occurred the moment I used either windows update or samsung updater to install the latest intel graphics drivers (exactly the same as you, i could turn it down 1 bar but no further). Then when I reinstalled the older ones from the samsung site it fixed it instantly. 2ff7e9595c
